The invite-only event celebrates diversity in filmmaking and a day of education, inspiration, and entertainment. Hollywood veterans and creative newcomers will come together in an elegant yet comfortable environment to network and explore exciting collaborations amidst the diverse and multicultural filmmaker community.

The Ericka Nicole Malone brand debuted the “Indie Director’s Spotlight” at Sundance Film Festival in 2020 with glowing reviews. This year’s event will elevate a new level of elegance and excitement with host and head panelist Ericka Nicole Malone, president of Ericka Nicole Malone Entertainment. “My vision for the ‘Indie Director’s and Creator’s Spotlight’ is to provide a unique experience highlighting female and minority filmmakers. This year, attendees can look forward to powerful panels and conversations with award-winning participants and experienced entertainment veterans who will share their truths and insight while offering varied perspectives on navigating filmmaker creative, business, and financial ups and downs. Confirmed participants include Ericka Nicole Malone (award-winning producer/writer of “Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story” and “Ward of the State”), Tabitha Brown (Emmy-nominated actress, NCAAP Image Award-winner and bestselling author), Denver Robbins (producer “Perception: Seeing Is Not Believing), Matty Rich (director of “The Cure,” “The Inkwell,” “Straight Out of Brooklyn”), Craig Ross Jr. (screenwriter/director of AllBlk series “Monogamy,” “Bones,” and “NCIS,” Eduardo Ramirez (acclaimed cinematographer of “Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story” and “Escape From Extinction”), Wendy Raquel Robinson, (NCAAP Award-winning actress best known for “The Steve Harvey Show,” “Grand Hotel,” and “The Game”) and Vanessa Estelle Williams (NCAAP Award-winning actress/producer/director best known Soul Food and New Jack City).

Panels will begin at 10 am and continue through 4 pm, with topics such as “Breaking Through: How to Break Through Barriers of Diversity in Hollywood,” “Cinematography as a Person of Color in Hollywood,” “How to Transcend from Acting to Creating in Hollywood,” and a special screening of “Birth of the Political Underworld” trailer.

In addition to traditional filmmaker conversation, the “Indie Director’s and Creator’s Spotlight” will offer light bites, warm beverages, cocktails, mocktails, gifting, and free-flowing sounds by Dj Q-Nice. From 5 to 11 pm, as a finale to a day of diversity and inclusion discussion in film and television, Ericka Nicole Malone Entertainment will transform its event into a Neo-Soul Lounge with live performances by Keith Robinson, Sha’leah Nikole, Alfred Jackson, and 3x Grammy Award-nominated songstress Angie Stone.
