The Sacramento Chapter of the Foundation for A Drug Free World attended and held events in recognition of World Health Day throughout the day on April 8th 2023

SACRAMENTO, CA, UNITED STATES, April 13, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — Starting the day off at Folsom’s Lembi Park for the Festival of Eggs, the Foundation hosted a table and provided free drug prevention materials. The information table was set up with a bean bag toss with prizes for kids, while other foundation members provided drug education booklets to parents called “The Truth About Drugs”.
Later that same day, the Foundation had a meeting at one of the Church of Scientology’s Community Rooms in downtown Sacramento with other like minded community people and groups working on drug prevention and that evening concluded the day with a presentation from the Founder of “Steered Straight” Mr. Michael Deleon in the Church’s Chapel about his efforts educating youth across the country.
The Church of Scientology serves as a hub for like minded groups to come together and address the societal ills around us and it made sense for us to be active with these groups on World Health Day said the Church’s Public Affairs Director.
The Sacramento Chapter Director of the Foundation For A Drug-Free World Mr. Nathan Johnson added “that the health of our kids is of paramount importance due to the many dangers of todays drugs.”
By way of example the Fentanyl crisis prompted the Sacramento City Unified School District to vote in October of 2022 to become one of the first in the state to distribute Narcan, which can help treat a suspected Fentanyl overdose. The board decision was in response to increasing opioid deaths in the County and the introduction of “rainbow Fentanyl” in California. “From marijuana laced candies to fake pills laced with the deadly drug Fentanyl, kids need to be accurately informed and empowered with the ‘Truth about Drugs’ that can quite literally save lives ” added Mr. Johnson.
In all, the Chapter got out over 700 materials to nearly 300 families that attended the Lembi Park event and hosted several members of other groups at the Church that each received materials.
